Reaching Your Place of Destiny Part 2

Hi guys and ladies (not to miss you out), I’m glad to be back working on this article (it's been a long overdue while i know).

This article will touch on how the Fruit of the Spirit can help you attain levels you never thought possible.

See the first article here how-to-become-who-god-destined-you-to

So you've discovered your predominant temperament and you’re asking: “is that why I've been unable to do this and that”? , well here’s how the Holy Spirit can help us overcome all of our weaknesses. We must activate our own spirit to \connect with that of God (Romans 8: 16… The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children”).

Galatians 5: 22 – 23a……“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control”:

1. Love – if you are a Choleric like Apostle Paul then you probably have a revengeful spirit (he was angry with the followers of Christ and had initially sought to murder them all), but because he listened to the voice of God while on the way to Damascus and the Holy Spirit speaking through Ananias was able to convert Apostle Paul to a bold and loving follower of Christ and other disciples (Romans 9 vs 1 and 20 – 21). You’ll find that if you let the Spirit work on you the way He did with Paul, you’ll become a self – sacrificing person like Moses, who would go to any lengths to love others and in turn others will be there for you in your time of need (people like Silas and Barnabas followed Paul on his missionary journey and with their help, Paul was able to become one of the greatest and well known follower of Christ).

2. Joy – Some MelChols and Sanguines tend to lack this, probably because they suffer from pessimism, paranoia and fear. Due to this you’ll notice that a lot of people like this, e.g. Moses and Peter initially shy away from taking responsibility for anything in life but as soon as you discover that “the joy of the Lord is your strength” and as soon as you let the Spirit in you’ll become bold, brave as a LION, you’ll have inner joy which will lead straight to peace so that the fear of the unknown and of what people will say or think of you no longer matters.  You’ll find that you begin to succeed and breakthrough challenges right left and centre.

3. Peace – let’s talk about a very faithful ‘friend of God’ in the bible who had this attribute. Abraham had the Phlegmatic temperament, he was easy going and calm. He listened to the voice/Spirit of God and with that level of faith he was able to surrender and trust that God will do as He had promised and due to this Abraham did not miss one single blessing God promised him. I believe that people with other temperaments lack this inner peace most especially MelChols who can be uneasy (i.e.Moses) in times of trials and difficulties and because of this weakness have missed blessings and breakthroughs, how should you learn to become a better person, by totally relying on God….John 14:27: peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you:  not as the world gives, give I to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. So “SURRENDER”.

4. Patience - as a child of God it is very crucial to have the spirit of patience, because trust me nothing good comes easy in this life, so you have to learn to pray, watch and wait. If you notice people who have the Sanguine and Phlegmatic temperaments tend to be very patient. Let's take Abraham for example, he prayed to God, was obedient (in the case of God asking him to sacrifice his son of promise), listened, waited and watched as God unveiled His promises. Another situation where Abraham exhibited the spirit of patience was when his nephew Lot (his herdsmen) fought Abraham over his properties, Abraham patiently allowed Lot choose first (Lot eventually chose what appeared to wealthiest area of the land, a place which ended up to become Sodom and Gomorrah and was eventually destroyed by fire)........Gen 13:8 So Abram said to Lot, “Let’s not have any quarrelling between you and me, or between your herders and mine, for we are close relatives''.
Most of the time it's better to be patient and await God's blessing and we'll discover that when the designated season of destiny change comes, we'll be blessed beyond belief (Abraham waited patiently on the Lord for the birth of Isaac and through him Abraham was promised all the descendants like stars in the sky).

5. Kindness - again Sanguines and Phlegmatics are very good at this, the Bible says it's better to give than to receive. Take the Widow of Zarephath, who gave her last piece of food to the man of God and in turn she was blessed with an overflowing and outpouring source of oil (1Kings17:7-16). Therefore no matter what temperament you fit into you are capable of this, it's only when we are able to do this selflessly can God bless even more, just check out Joel 2:25.

6. Goodness- this is the grace and ability to continue to do what is right and acceptable in the sight of God and not man.

7. Faithfulness – Sanguine and Phlegmatic are very good at this, Apostle Peter for example he was faithful in all things that was given to him (minus that one time he denied Christ thrice), he was anointed by the Holy Spirit and went everywhere he was led (it got to a point where his shadow was healing people without him having to even lay hands on them, Abraham is also a very faithful person and that's why he was known as "the friend of God" and so was Noah. Do you want to get to that place of destiny where you become untouchable and unmovable then REMAIN FAITHFUL, because 2 Timothy 2:13 says.....".If we are faithless, He remains faithful".

8. Gentleness- ".....only the meek can inherit the earth" Matt.5:5. Have you ever noticed that it's most people that have the Melchol temperament that seem to always be the high achievers in life because they are assertive and tend to be aggressive, this is not always the case as this is the "world's" perception of what a perfect person should be. It's important to stress that this is not always the case because we need to know that the meek are highly favoured, why?. Well simply put they shall inherit the earth, to meek means to exhibit a form of humility, this is not a weakness but strength and in due course God will exalt you (1 Pet5 :6). Examples of those who overcame the world by being meek are Saul, Moses, Jesus.

9. Self control- it's always best that no matter the temperament you fit into, you should  exhibit self control. You should avoid self gratification and allow God's blessings upon your life speak for you, with this you'll go far. The Lord Jesus is a very good example of a person who had great self control, He was able to resist the devil (temptation) and God exalted him.

At the end of the day, we are all God's work in progress and His grace shall continue to be sufficient for us.

Survival Guide to 2013!!!

So the New Year’s here and I bet a lot of you guys out there have made some resolutions. Whether you decide to stick with them or give up at the end of the month (like I always do) is really up to you but I have 12 simple tips which (as my Pastor says) will help you SURVIVE this year!!!

 1. Pray, read and mediate on the word of God more, Joshua 1:8.

 2. Believe your dreams and believe yourself – if you don’t believe in yourself and your abilities then no one else will.

3. Don’t waste time on gossips - the time you spend listening to and spreading rumours about issues which really have nothing to do with you, can really be spent achieving something valuable or more on improving yourself as a person.

4. Dream more while you’re awake – you have to realise that good dreams don’t only happen when we go to sleep but think of ‘OPPORTUNITY’ as a dream that occurs while you are awake.
Remember: “Opportunity once lost can never be regained” - even if you try making up the time which has been lost.

5. Envy is a waste of time – all you require to succeed has been deposited in you by God so in order words, “You already have all you need”.

6. Make peace with your past – the more you hold on to what could have been, the less time you’ll spend trying to move forward.

7. No one is in charge of your happiness except you – you are not out to please the world and the people within it, so QUIT TRYING TO.

8. You don’t have to win every argument – let the fruit of your labour and the way you live your life speak for you.

9. Try and make at least 3 people smile (if possible) every day - you don’t know whose life you’ll be changing by doing this simple thing.

10. What others think of you (my dear) IS NOT your business – so stop dwelling on things you cannot change.

11. However good or bad the situation may be, BE THANKFUL – but remember as well that no condition in life is permanent and that the ONLY thing constant in this world is CHANGE and your situation will DEFINITELY get better.

12. No matter how you feel, GET UP, DRESS UP and SHOW UP – you never know when your breakthrough will come knocking. Apart from tip 1, I particularly find this point very powerful.

So there you have it my crash survival guide to 2013.
HAPPY BELATED NEW YEAR!!!

How To Become Who God Destined You To Be Part 1

Ever wondered why you never fully attain you potential in life? I see you have a direct answer right; you blame it on others, missed opportunities and all other forms of excuse in the book.

The answer to this question is that we need to take responsibility for our own failures but do not fear, cos the Holy Spirit really does enable us to maximize our strengths and minimize our weakness so that we can become that active person in the body of Christ.

So recently I've been reading and meditating on a particular eye-opening spiritual book titled: Spirit-Controlled Temperament by Tim Lahaye

You've really got to check it out. I'd give it a 5 star rating. Moving on before I lose track of how essential this topic is to you, well it blessed me so hopefully it blesses you too.

Yes be rest assured that our temperaments can either make or break us both physically and spiritually so read on.

According to the book, there are 4 basic temperaments which we all exhibit but some are more predominant in us than others and in reality we are a combination of at least two of these temperaments (I won't dwell too much on each temperament but will focus on 2 major ones:

1. Sanguine - they are warm, lively and fun loving, e.g. apostle Peter
2. Choleric - hot tempered and active e.g. apostle Paul
3. Melancholy - perfectionist type, self sacrificing and anger e.g. Moses
4. Phlegmatic - calm and easygoing e.g. Abraham

Let's use a MelChlor as an example and yes "I'm active but still find it hard to overcome anger". Remember it was because of Moses's anger (yes the Israelites rebelled and out of anger he destroyed the first stone tablets with the 10 commandments written on them) that He only saw the promise land from afar but never got to enter the place.....if you don't believe me check out Deuteronomy 1:37 -38.....Because of you the Lord became angry with me also and said, “You shall not enter it, either. But your assistant, Joshua son of Nun, will enter it.

The main reasons why we never fully attain our potentials are hidden within weaknesses of our temperament:

1. Strengths of a typical MelChlor: sensitive, perfectionist, self-sacrificing, strong-willed, leader and so on

2. Weaknesses: self-centered, pessimistic, hot tempered, moody, revengeful and impetuous.

A typical MelChlor can be very paranoid and think people are always talking about him/her and they have that proud "self-sufficient" attitude where they believe that "it's all by their might” that they have succeeded in everything they lay their hands upon without ever acknowledging the "Supremacy" of God.

They believe it's all about them and when things do go wrong they suddenly go into that "self-pity/depression mode" asking "why me?”

MelChlors have to remember, In all things, give thanks....I Thessalonians 5:18.

This "self-centered" attitude makes MelChlors selfish and love others less because they spend too much time focusing on themselves alone. Note "LOVE" seems to be absent in most Christian churches today.

When it comes to marriage they tend to have a difficult time taking the "fatal plunge" because they like to daydream or "idealize a potential" spouse but they soon recede because the weaknesses of the other person plays out to much for them, because yes MelChlors are very judgmental, they analyze and dissect unnecessary information/issue to a point where it no longer makes a valid point.

It's only when truly filled with the Holy Spirit that a MelChlor fully achieves a level of spiritual boldness in Christ to become a very confident and active member of the body of Christ.

People with this particular blend of temperaments rarely live up to their amazing potential, because of their "internalized spirit of anger and revenge". They rarely forgive. For example there's no mistaking that Apostle Paul was a MelChlor, He initially sought to persecute all Christians even to the point of their death but upon being visited by Christ Himself, he became a fantastic, self-sacrificing preacher who worn so many souls to God and while being in prison was still able to preach the gospel.

So if you know that you are called to be a leader of a fellowship, head of a family and so on...you'll have to dig deeper with the help of the Holy Spirit in order for you to prevent division within your fellowship group and the breakup of your family.

Watch out for Part 2, Where I'll tell you how the Holy Spirit can help transform you no matter the circumstance or temperament and make you a BONAFIDE child of God...........

Progess: One of my favourite quotes

"Progress depends upon what we are, rather than upon what we may encounter. One man is stopped by a sapling lying across the road; another, passing that way, picks up the hindrance and converts it into a help in crossing the brook just ahead. We are too apt to think that our progress in a given case will depend solely upon the obstacles we may run against. It is more likely to depend upon what runs against the obstacles"
